[Side] Oz

Post  Squeejee on Fri Dec 10, 2010 4:31 pm

General

Side Name: Oz (non-royal)
Ruler Name: Ozzy, "The Prince of Darkness"
Favored Terrain: Tundra
Description: Oz was one of many micro-empires formed from the chaos following Black Sabbath's Chief Warlord Ozzy breaking away from the side. Oz officially started when Ozzy claimed the city of Jet during a great snowstorm many have come to call "The Blizzard of Oz," and since then Oz has grown from Ozzy's solo empire to a formidable side that represents multiple bands. Though Ozzy is called the "Prince of Darkness" by many, a title he earned devouring Doombats, he is not actually royal - just a little out of his mind.
Livery: A white circle on a red background, with the black silhouette of a custom flying V across the circle, the headstock pointing towards the top-right end of the banner.

Oz Army Details

Format:
Name (Type) [Upkeep]
Hits - Combat - Defense - Move
Special Abilities
Fluff.

Infantry
Spoiler:

Mosh (Stabber) [30]
11 - 3 - 1 - 3
Heavy, Tundra Capability
The Mosh - usually grouped into pits of 8 - are the damage screening unit of Oz. Their strength lies in numbers, and also in their uncanny ability to fight hard in the cold of winter, despite being armored only in concert T-shirts and equipped with only their heads.

Crew (Piker) [30]
10 - 2 - 3 - 2
Garrison, Surveyor, Tundra Capability
The Crew, an essential part of any venue, are the ones who keep the home front in good repair. They are a part-time force, seeing little action outside the occasional emergency when Oz is invaded.

Roadie (Upgraded Piker) [40]
10 - 2 - 3 - 2
Surveyor, Tundra Capability
The Roadies, an essential part of any band, are the ones who make the non-city venues operate better. They basically pay for themselves, and then some, by assisting with the operation of Oz's resource outposts.

Fans (Archer) [40]
5 - 5 - 0 - 4
Ranged, Garrison, Siege, Tundra Capability
No band is complete without the fans at home - they sometimes buy the CDs, always pirate the MP3s, and occasionally shoot enemy flyers.

Groupies (Upgraded Archer) [50]
5 - 5 - 0 - 4
Ranged, Siege, Tundra Capability
Eventually, the most rabid fans become groupies - buying ALL the CDs because they can't afford a laptop to download the MP3s onto, following the band around and protecting it from aerial attack with longbows. Sometimes they even use flaming arrows to attack fortifications, but that's only when they get really, REALLY high.

Air Guitar (Scout) [30]
3 - 0 - 0 - 11
Flight, Scout, Tundra Capability
The rock offshoot of an Orly, the Air Guitar is the go-to scout across the Empire.

Stage Manager (Knight) [100]
10 - 4 - 4 - 5
Heavy, Flying, Simple Thinkamancy, Simple Foolamancy
For every great band, there is someone in charge of it. From fielding the phone calls to coordinating the pyrotechnics, the Stage Manager is the unseen force behind turning great musicians into a great show.

Specials
Spoiler:

Chopper (Special A) [40]
6 - 3 - 3 - 7
Mount, Tundra Capability
The preferred combat mount of the Oz Empire, the Chopper is quite possibly the most awesome thing ever made by a human. It's fast, and that makes it dangerous. It's JUST as dangerous to the rider, and that makes it cool. Too cool for words, so I'll shut up now.

Flying V (Special B) [40]
9 - 3 - 3 - 5
Flight, Tundra Capability
The bigger, burlier cousin of the Air Guitar, the Flying V is Oz's go-to air unit. Because of it's awkward shape, it doesn't work very well as a mount - but it is tough to kill in any situation.

Studio Guitarist (Special C) [80]
9 - 4 - 4 - 3
Leadership, Dance-Fighting, Tundra Capability
Though not technically members of the band, the Studio Guitarists are just as essential a part of its sound as anyone else. They are capable of rocking out, giving their entire stack a dance fighting bonus from headbanging - Mosh Pits are especially effective deployed in this fashion.

Lead Zeppelin (Special D) [250]
21 - 10 - 6 - 12
Heavy, Flight, Sonic Breath, Toxin, Battlecrap, Siege (free), Mount, Tundra Capability
Oz's greatest war machine, the Lead Zeppelin corps is the pride and joy of Oz. They bombard the enemy from above with rock and roll and ferry warlords into battle.

Navy
Spoiler:

Explorer (Sloop) [60]
6 - 2 - 2 - 9
Cargo 8, Water Capability
The Explorer takes on the scouting role in a naval fleet, but are really used to keep tabs on distant waters. They can ferry troops, but are too weak to make a real go of it, risking the soldiers placed on board.

Stratocaster (Galley) [90]
23 - 3 - 3 - 5
Cargo 16, Water Capability
The Strat is where the real navy begins. They are decent in combat, but are mostly used to screen for their larger cousins. They make a better transport than Explorers, at least.

Les Paul (Galleon) [130]
10 - 23 - 5 - 5
Cargo 30, Water Capability, Ranged
The Les Pauls are the mightiest warships Oz has. They bombard the enemy from outside their range and are crewed very carefully by their captains.

Squeejee, it looks like you forgot to add the +10 upkeep for buying Siege for your Archers.

Also, "Fast" is a Complex Special, so A/B Specials can't buy it.

Just so I'm not being a total killjoy here, you only spent 11 out of 12 points for your C-units--Hits increase by 1.5(round down) for every point spent on them.

A similar "problem" occurs with your C-ships (or Galleons, whatever), you spent 15 points on Attack and 2 on Ranged--which leaves you 3 extra points to use.

Edit: Also, despite shortchanging yourself for your C-specials, you also overcharge yourself for them by 10 Schmuckers.

Hmm, thanks for double-checking my stuff for me - mistakes are what I get for playing it fast and loose with the math while mostly focusing on the fluff. Seems to look good now, though.

Well, the fluff was good. My fluff was mostly my min-max Pokemon player talking, yours was awesome.

I love the fact that the Stage Manager is the most powerful Infantry unit for your side, because I know a few (under-appreciated) Stage Managers.

Hah! I've been one, actually - never enough appreciation to go around :D

For the record, you can also expect HBO jokes and Wizard jokes abound once things get underway.

EDIT: Am I the only one who finds smileys annoying enough to disable them on my posts? Because I really do find them really, really annoying.

EDIT2: Fixed a few spelling errors in my first post.
